Georgios N. Panagopoulos, MD is a registered Orthopaedic & Trauma Surgeon with extensive training and experience in the United States and the United Kingdom focusing on upper extremity surgery.
Dr. Panagopoulos was born and raised in Athens, Greece. He obtained his medical degree at the University of Rome La Sapienza School of Medicine, Italy, in 2005, with honorary distinction (magna cum laude) for being among the highest-ranking medical students in his class. He completed his specialist training in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Athens School of Medicine (Attikon University Hospital), in 2016. He further refined his training by undertaking a subspecialty fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), United States, between 2016 and 2017. He then proceeded to complete a fellowship in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery at the world-renowned Reading Shoulder Unit, Reading, UK between 2018 and 2020. Next, he undertook a fellowship in Complex Reconstructive Shoulder & Elbow Surgery (2020) at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, UK where he focused on complex revision shoulder and elbow arthroplasty. Subsequently, he completed an Upper Limb Trauma fellowship at the Royal London Hospital (2020-2021), at the same Institution (2021-2022). Of note, the aforementioned hospital is the busiest Major Trauma Centre in the United Kingdom.
Dr Panagopoulos has extensive experience in all aspects of Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery, with a Special Interest in Arthroscopic and Reconstructive Surgery of the Shoulder & Elbow, as well as Hand Surgery.
Dr Panagopoulos has over 40 publications in Peer-Reviewed Journals (PubMed) and has authored several Chapters in Medical Textbooks. Dr Panagopoulos has given more than 80 oral/poster presentations in International Meetings and more than 70 oral/poster presentations in National Meetings.
